Tuulikki käy kotona ja antaa Topille neuvoja vastaisen varalle.
MATIN, KAISUN JA KISSAN RETKET
Matti ja Kaisu ja kissa.
Oli kerran kaksi lasta,
toinen tietystikin Matti,
toinen Kaisu, kolmantena
oli vielä kaunis katti.
Matti oli poika uljas,
seistä taisi niinkuin seinä;
Kaisu oli varreltansa
niinkuin hento kesäheinä.
Kissa oli kiiltomusta,
kaunis niinkuin kissa harva,
nenässä ja hännänpäässä
jokunen vain valkokarva.
Kissa ehdottaa lapsille, että lähdettäisiin hiihtämään.
Taittunut on juuri maasta
talven ankaran nyt valta,
senpä vuoksi eivät lapset
suojissansa olla malta.
Kissimirristäkin, joka
nukkui talvet pankon alla,
tuntui kuin ei kulkis enää
yhtä ankarana halla.
Siksi lapsille se haastoi:
»Kuulkaas, nythän hanki kantaa;
eikö tehtäis hiihtoretki
kohti kauniin metsän rantaa?»
Tuumi Matti: »Kyllähän se
virkistäisi mieltä vähän»,
mieluisasti myöskin Kaisu
kohta suostui tuumaan tähän.
Retkeilijät varustautuvat matkalle.
Matti jalkaan pisti pieksut,
hartioilleen sarkatakin,
kiskoi rukkasetkin käsiin,
painoi päähän karvalakin.
Pani päähänsä myös Kaisu
oman oivan naapukkansa,
veti ylleen villatakin,
narskukengät jalkahansa.
Kissa taasen turkkiansa
aina piti yhtä samaa,
oman äitivainaan sille
lapsena jo lahjoittamaa.
Matka alkaa.
Matti ynnä Kaisu sitten
jättivät jo omat ukset,
halki hangen liitämähän
sujahuttivat he sukset.
Mirrille taas sopivia
suksia ei ollut missään,
senpä vuoksi vierellä se
juoksi karvatöppösissään.
Retkeilijät löytävät pajupensaan, jossa on pieniä kissoja.
Siitä sitten hiihdetähän
halki hangen, poikki pellon,
tullaan viitaan, missä kuului
kesäll' ääni karjankellon.
Viidassa on koivunvirvet
vielä aivan alastomat,
mutta pajupensahill' on
pienet valkokissat somat.
Taasen musta kaunis kissa
virkkaa: »Näitä ottakaamme,
kevään ensi tunnun silloin
kotisuojihimme saamme.»
Toimia ei musta kissa
silti taida enempää nyt,
koska hältä itseltänsä
oli puukko kotiin jäänyt.
Lapsukaiset sitävastoin
puukoll' oksia nyt taittaa,
joista kukin itsellensä
kissakimpun aikoo laittaa.
Hirveän jännittävä hetki.
Näin kun kissoja jo olla
lapsill' alkoi tarpeheksi,
Kaisu etäämpänä oksan
vielä viehättävän keksi.
Sydänsopukassaan silloin
jotain kummaa aavistusta,
jot' ei oikein ymmärtänyt,
tunsi katti kaunis, musta.
Tuntui niinkuin jollain lailla
olis viekas viidan rinne;
lausui kissa: »Lapsikulta
varo rientämästä sinne.»
Mutta myöhään. — Kaisu parka
kirkas' aivan kauheasti;
tuota pikaa hangess' oli
rintaan, kaulahankin asti.
Matti ja kissa pelastavat Kaisun.
Vaan kuin salama, mi halki
avaruuden välkähtävi,
Matin sydämessä silloin
välähdys myös kumma kävi.
Luo hän lensi nuolen lailla,
eikä kestänytkään kauan
ennenkuin ol' ojentanut
Kaisulle hän suksisauvan.
Hetkisessä tuossa Matti
mieheksi jo aivan varttuu,
vetää Kaisua nyt, joka
tarmoin suksisauvaan tarttuu.
Kiivahasti myöskin kissa
iskee hihaan Kaisun takin,
siinä ankara ja tuiki
tuima työ on kummallakin.
Vihdoin jälkeen monen kovan
ponnistuksen ynnä vaivan
Kaisu hangell' uupuneena
mutta ehjänä on aivan.
Matti ja Kaisu ja kissa tutkivat kummallista kuilua ja kiittävät
sydämessään hyvää sallimusta.
Näin kun Kaisu vedetyksi
hangest' oli ylös saatu,
käytiin tuosta tutkimahan
mikä oli vaaran laatu.
Hangessa nyt nähtiin kuilu,
kuilun pohjalta taas esiin
lähde pulpahti, mi varmaan
väljempihin riensi vesiin.
Ja kun hankea se kalvoi
yhä kalvamistaan alta,
ja kun yltä ohenteli
tuota auringon nyt valta,
niin jo hanki hauras petti,
kestänyt ei työtä kevään,
osa voimista sen suli
aurinkohon säteilevään.
Ja kun kissa ynnä lapset
katsoi kuilua niin syvää,
kiittivät he sydämessään
silloin kohtaloa hyvää,
joka, joskin heidät saattoi
vaanivaista vaaraa kohti,
suopeudessaan myöskin siitä
ulos ystävykset johti.
Kukin retkeilijä saa oman kissakimpun.
Kiskoi sitten kädestänsä
Kaisu kumpaisenkin kintaan,
sitoi kissat kolmeen kimppuun,
yhden pisti omaan rintaan.
Omansa ja kissan kimpun
taskuhunsa Matti pisti;
sitten taas he hiihtää alkoi
halki hangen kaunihisti.
Mainio mäki.
Matkamiehiämme vastaan
mainio jo tuli mäki,
mäenlaskupaikaksi sen
oivaks' ystävykset näki.
Laski tuosta monta kertaa
Kaisu kera Matti veikan,
kunnes ankaran he aivan
teki kerran kuperkeikan.
Huu ja huu, tää seikkailua
oli valtavata vasta;
hangessapa mullin mallin
kieriskeli kaksi lasta.
Ja kun tuosta sitten pystyyn
pyörähtivät lapsukaiset,
oli muodoltansa aivan
lumiukkojen he laiset.
Veikeätä mielest' oli
tämä Kaisun ynnä Matin,
hauska lasten myllerrystä
katsella myös oli katin.
Nuorten iloilu niin oli
siitä viehättävää, somaa,
ja se kaihomielin muisti
lapsuus-aikaansa myös omaa.
Kissan sankarityö.
Mutta muistella ei saanut
kissa kauan lapsuus-aikaa,
iälle mi myöhemmälle
on kuin pelkkää tarun taikaa.
Syöksyi näet rakki raisu
kohta niitty-aidan yli,
kitaa sillä varmahankin
oli kokonainen syli.
Siitä sitten suoraa päätä
matkamiehiämme kohti
leveöinä leukapielet
juoksunsa se julma johti.
Tuli lapsosille silloin
hätä ankara jo käteen;
melkeinpä jo menettivät
jokaisen he toivonsäteen.
Mutta taasen sydämessään
kissa tunsi kummaa jotain,
oli kuin ois muistanut se
ajat esi-isäin sotain.
Sylki, sihisi ja nosti
kohta pystyyn kaikki karvat,
urotyön se teki, johon
pystyvät vain kissat harvat.
Raivoin rakkia se vastaan
kohta lensi lailla nuolen,
puri, raapi, kamppailussa
kauheassa piti puolen.
Rakki raisu surkeasti
tuskasta jo tuossa parkas,
kissan ravisti ja ulvoin
tantereelta kauas kärkäs.
Taistelun jälkeen.
Kuinka on nyt kissan laita?
Kangistuupa melkein kieli
tuota kertoissa, ja myöskin
murheiseksi käy jo mieli.
Eipä kamppailussa tuossa
päässytkään se ehjin nahoin.
Musta, kaunis kiiltokarva
runneltu ol' aivan pahoin.
Purrut oli rakki raisu,
jolle oli tullut hätä,
pahoin kissan kylkeä ja
myöskin toista käpälätä.
Runneltu on toinen korva,
puhki viilletty on poski;
kipeästi kumppaneihin
kissa-paran kohlut koski.
Matka-ajoit' ei halu vienyt
uusiin seikkailuihin, sotiin,
senpä vuoksi suoraa päätä
kolmisin he riensi kotiin.
Kissa saa kotona kahvia ja hoitoa.
Kotiin ystävät kun saapui,
kupposestaan kahvikullan
kissa litkiä sai kohta
kera kerman, kahvipullan.
Kaksi kuppiakin saanut
olisi se, vaan ei juonut;
oli kuin ois haava moni
sille tuskia nyt tuonut.
Senpä vuoksi lapset sille
aulihisti avun toivat,
jalan sitoivat ja kaulan,
nenän päätä laastaroivat.
Tuskaakin se tuotti kyllä,
mutta kissa kaunis kesti
kivut kaikki kiltisti ja
varsin kärsivällisesti.
Kissa vähitellen toipuu rauhallisessa kotielämässä.
Kääreet kaulass' istui sitten
kissa usein ikkunalla,
katseli kuin teki kevät
tuloansa kaikkialla.
Halu harras useasti
heräs siinä kissimirriin
laulamaan ja karkeloimaan
päästä muuhun kissapiiriin.
Mutta tuosta kohta tunsi,
että ankarat nuo haavat
rauhallisess' elämässä
yksin parannusta saavat.
Siksi taltutella taisi
sydämensä kevätkaihon,
unohdella hiiret, jotka
kohta pesii peittoon laihon.
Pajukissat pienet, jotka
ikkunan on pantu pieleen,
myöskin lohdutusta toivat
hälle murheelliseen mieleen.
Mutta ennen muuta antoi
tyydytystä hälle tunto
siitä, mitä aikaan saanut
oli oma uljuus, kunto.
TUULIKKI JA TOPI
Tarina alkaa.
Oli kerran Tuulikki ja Topi,
jotka mainiosti yhteen sopi.
Tuulikki ken oli? — Pienokainen,
isän, äidin oma tyttö vainen.
Entä Topi? — Tuulikin se oiva
oli leikkitoveri ja hoiva.
Joskin koira vain se oli harmaa,
harvoin nähtiin ystävää näin varmaa.
Vietti hauskan kesän toverukset;
milloin kauas jättäin kodin ukset
samoili he metsiin metisihin,
petäjäistä pihkaa tuoksuvihin.
Milloin paimensivat karjaa haassa,
väliin kellivät myös pihamaassa.
Kesä kuluu liian pian ja kouluaika saapuu.
Sitten toteutui se vanha juttu,
lapsille kyll' ennestäänkin tuttu.
Kului näet kesä loppuun asti,
kului aivan liian nopeasti.
Kesän jälkeen taasen syksy alkaa;
silloin kouluun mennään täyttä jalkaa.
Tuli Tuulikillekin näin hetki,
jolloin täytyi alkaa kouluretki.
Tuulikki lähtee koulumatkalle, ja Topi seuraa mukana.
Kerran syksypäivänäpä sitten
hepo seisoi eessä portahitten.
Tuulikki nyt hyvästinsä heitti,
huivin kulmaan kyyneleensä peitti.
Nousi kohta rattahille tuosta,
Virkku vinhasti jo alkoi juosta.
Pekka, kokenut näät ajomiesi,
hyvin tuota ohjaella tiesi.
Metsätietä rattahat näin vieri,
mutta Topi keränä jo kieri
myöskin jäljessä ja lähti mukaan,
sit' ei tottelemaan saanut kukaan.
Saapuu tulisilmäinen juna, jota Topi arvelee hirveäksi pedoksi,
Ajettiinpa näin nyt asemalle,
josta valot välkkyi kaikkialle.
Hiljaa näet joutunut on ilta;
Tuulikki käy alas rattahilta.
Lipun ostaa, odottelee junaa:
valonvälke metsänlaidan punaa.
Juna saapuu, tulisilmät kiiltää,
Tuulikin tuo mieltä melkein viiltää.
Topi ulvomaan, kun täynnä uhkaa
moinen outo peto tulla puhkaa.
Tuulikki käy kotona ja antaa Topille neuvoja vastaisen varalle.
Tuulikill' on kaksi päivää lupaa,
siksi kotona on käydä hupaa.
Kotikynnykselle kun hän palaa,
kohta Topia jo nähdä halaa.
Mutta, ah, tää tover' armahainen
aivan sodasta on tulleen lainen.
Tuskin tuota katsoo silmin kuivin:
pää on melkein peitossa nyt huivin.
Siteissä on myöskin jalka toinen,
katse kärsivä ja sairaalloinen.
Katsoi surkeutta Topi-paran
Tuulikki ja virkkoi: »Vasta varan
totta tiennet pitää paremmasti,
ettet vaaraan syöksy sokeasti.
Muista maailmalta saamas oppi:
turvaisin on tuttu kotisoppi.»
