AURINGON MAJA
AURINGON MAJA
Päätön on päivä ja yötön on yö,
äärillä taivaan tunturivyö.
Tunnen kuin maailma kaikki ois täällä,
leijaisi välkkyvin siivin ja sulin
elämän lintu päittemme päällä
ijäti palavin töyhtönsä tulin.
Täällä ei idän ja lännen rajaa,
kaikki on yhtä auringon majaa!
KOSKI JA KELLOKUKKA
Mä kesän hennon kellokukan näin;
soi kalliolla, kosken partahalla
se tiukuansa hiljaa helistäin,
vaikk' ärjyivätkin jättikuohut alla.
Sen sinisilmä keinui kahtahalla:
se milloin katsoi kuohupäitä päin
ja milloin unelmoi taas taivahalla
heleimmät sinne laulut helkyttäin.
Tuo suven hauras lapsi, orpo salon,
hyräsi virttä kirkkahimman valon
ja kera kosken jakoi ilot, surut,
sai kivipöydältänsä niukat murut.
Sen hiljaisesti soitti sinikelloin,
min jättikosken vinhat kuohut velloin.
TUNTURIVIRTA
Sun on sielusi kirkas ja katseesi avoin,
sun on tiesikin puhdas ja päilyvä niin!
Ah, kaikki jos kulkisi vettesi tavoin,
niin ilolla kuolohon käytäisiin.
Sa leikiten lasketat kivistä pohjaa,
ja pisaras helminä kimaltavat.
Sun kulkuas kauneus tunturin ohjaa,
yli uomasi koivikot kumartavat,
ja tunturiailakit tuoksunsa jakaa
sun yllesi valkeusmatkallas.
Saa vaahtosi iloa tunturi vakaa,
se kuvaansa etsii sun kalvostas.
Vaan helmassa meren, mihin kaipasit niin,
ei helmies päily ja puhtaus kestä;
sa kuulut, oi kirkas, vain pienimpiin,
et voi sinä merta synnistä pestä!
SUVEN TUULI
Suven tuuli soittaa säveleitään,
pilvet taivahalla kiitää teitään;
liukuu lämmön laine yli maan
hallan muistot huuhtoin matkassaan.
Sykkää elon suoni kaikkialla:
ilo, leikki maassa, taivahalla.
Kesän autuus korkeimmillaan on,
usko onneen uusi, rajaton.
Elää, liikkuu ruoho, kukat, laiho,
kesän keinuun nukkuu kaikki kaiho.
Huomaat vasta syksyn saapuneen,
kun näät käyneen viljaan viikatteen.
Lailla suven sykkii elämäin —
syksy suuri saapuu yllättäin.
SUVIRANNALLA
Suvirannalta naurua seljille soi,
ilolauluja lainehet kantaa:
ahonurmella nuoriso karkeloi
liki yöllistä nuotiorantaa.
Käy, neitonen, liekkien loimuhun
ja katsele kanssani kuuta!
Jos tahdot sa olla ijäti mun,
on aika sun antaa jo suuta!
Tän yön kai kanssasi tanssia saan,
sun ulapan ylitse soutaa,
suvinurmelle häitämme karkelemaan
taa vetten sun kerran noutaa?
SÄVELMÄ
Ilon viulut, surun sellot
soivat sydämeni juhlaa;
helää huilut, kajaa kellot,
tiukujansa taivas tuhlaa.
Näkinkengät kattaa rantaa,
aallon sormet soittaa santaa
Kukkuu käet kultakaulat
puuttumatta unten haassa,
kun sa, armahani, laulat —
Olkoon vaikka hanki maassa.
ILTATUNNELMA KUISTILTA
Syyssuven tumma, lämmin ilta
on kartanolle tullut hiipien.
Ei airon ääntä kuulu valkamilta,
päät lintuin painui peittoon siipien.
Ei taukoo yössä soitto suven sirkkain,
jo lauloivat ne päivän helteisen,
ja yhä yltyin sinkoo ääni kirkkain,
kuin hionnasta satain sirppien.
"On leikattava huomenella viljaa",
yön sirkat sirinällään ennustaa.
Jäi metsä vaiti, kuuntelemaan hiljaa,
vain herkät haavat yössä vavahtaa...
SYYSKUVA
On leikattu, puitu jo kaura;
syyspeltoa kaataen käy
maamiehen viiltävä aura,
ei muuta kuin multaa näy,
sänget kun vaipuu.
Käy kurkien parvikin auraan,
niin kaukana määränpää,
syysauteren halkoen hauraan.
Vako valtava jälkeen jää:
katsojan kaipuu!
KELTAINEN AAMU
Sen huomasin ma huomenella vasta,
ett' on jo koivun lehti keltainen,
jo linnut lakannehet laulamasta
kuin kuolon kosketusta kammoen.
Niin yksitoikkoisesti, kuulen, valuu
syyssade tihkuin multaan murheiseen.
Jo muuttolintuin alkanut on paluu
pois valon maahan täältä kaukaiseen.
Me ihmislapset yksin ikäväämme
suruiseen, pitkään syksyyn laulamaan
orpoina, lentimiä vailla jäämme —
vain kaipuu kantaa maahan valkeaan.
ELONKORJAAJAIN VIRSI
Sa, sadon Herra, suonut olet meille
taas aurinkosi paistaa lämpimän,
toit siunaustas pellon pientareille,
soit viljan nousta valmiin, teräisän!
Sua kiitämme, oi Herra, armostasi,
Sua, kasvattaja laihon, jyvien!
Soit lyhteet meidän noutaa saraltasi,
soit leipää syödä pahain, hyvien.
Sa talven hangen, vihurien alle
syvälle multaan siunaat siemenen,
se että nousis jälleen orahalle,
kun uuden kutsut kultakeväimen.
KUUN SIRPPI KULUU
Kuun sirppi kuluu, ohueksi käy,
sen koht' ei terää enää näy.
Nyt joutuin vilja niittäkää,
kun kullankypsänä se kellertää!
Käy loppuansa kohti elokuu
ja vilja viipyin kuivettuu.
Siis korjaa, jotta saisi syys
aittaansa sen, min vaatii ijäisyys!
MUISTOJEN TARHA
HIIHTÄJÄN SURU
Hiihdän mä yöllistä kuudantarhaa,
pilvien varjot hangilla harhaa
liitäen, laukaten aaveitten lailla,
korpehen kaikoten, määrää vailla.
Hiihtäjä tumma, tuulien myötä
sauvon ma kylmää kuutamoyötä.
Kiireellä kuljen, vaikk' olen yksin,
varjoni kera vain vieretyksin.
Jäähile-kahleissa helisee hanki —
harhaava hiihtäjä — surujen vanki!
Kylmästi hangella jääkide kiiltää —
hyljätyn hiihtäjän syömessä viiltää!
KAKSI LATUA
Kymmenen virstaa rinnan
kaksi vie latua
elämän satua
ylitse hankien pinnan.
Pakkasta yllä ja alla
vaikka on tiemme,
viestiä viemme
hangella kimaltavalla
elämän valtavan hurman.
Hartaasti hiihtäin,
toistamme viihtäin
vältämme korpien turman.
Lävitse salojen lunten
latua kaksi
loitommaksi
pyrkivi kotihin unten...
Vieläkö monta on virstaa
jatkuva latumme,
kunnekka satumme
kuolema korpehen pirstaa?
HELMIKUUN HANGELLA
Helmikuun hangella ajan,
läheten kaukaista rantaa.
Akkuna etäisen majan
tuikkehen himmeän antaa.
Istun ma jäykkänä reessä,
katselen uurtoa eessä,
hilettä hyistä mi kantaa.
Mikä uurron hyisen teki
hankeen himmeähän?
Kulki tästä Tuonen reki!
Jään ma miettimähän:
kummassako reessä itse ajan
kohti sumurantaa,
tälläkö vai tuolla puolen rajan?
Vielä sentään jää mua kantaa —
MUISTOJEN TARHA
Käy mennehien muistojesi tarhaan,
sen etsi ihanata virvoitusta!
Saat siellä kulkiessas lohdun parhaan,
pois haihtuu kaikki murhe, aatos musta.
Siell' ylläs kaartuu lehväkatto lauha,
ja kukkii kukat tiesi kahden puolen.
On siellä suuri, vilvas onnen rauha,
ei yhtään painostusta helteen, huolen.
Ja joka aamu, jonka ruskoon heräät,
sun tuskas olleet peittää onnen kultaan.
Näin virvoitusta tarhaan muistois keräät
ja onnen siemeniä kylvät multaan...
VANHUUDEN ILO
Niin kaunihina kaartuu illan taivas,
ja tutut salmet, seljät aukeaa.
On nukkunehet menneet murhees, vaivas,
kaikk' elo ollut onnen kuullon saa.
Sun ilos istua on ruskoiltaa
ja nähdä elon väyläin välkkyvän.
Käyt ees ja taa sa muistojesi siltaa,
soi hiljaisena hymni elämän...
RUNOKIRJE AJAN TAA
Halk' elämäni onnen, hurman, harhan
sun muistan, nuoruuteni Julian,
kun varjostossa muistojeni tarhan
join huultes ensimäisen suudelman.
Näin silmäs palon alla kainon luomen
kuin kevätkukan terän umpussaan.
Vaan kerkeemmin kuin kukkasade tuomen
varisi unten vuokot varrestaan...
Viel' on kuin lennättäisi ajan tuuli
mun tiellein lunta unten kukkien,
kuin koskettaisi viileästi huuli
sun huultas yössä kevään mennehen.
SERENAADISONETTI
Ma akkunasi alla valvon salaa
ja kieliin hiljaisuuden harpun lyön;
äänettä nukkuu puisto kesäyön,
tuoksunsa täyden kammiohos valaa.
Vuoteesi viereen kaipuu hiljaa halaa,
ja lemmenlauluansa laulaa syön.
Ma hiljaisuuden harppuhuni lyön
yön halki, kunnes päivä uusi palaa
ja laulamahan luonto itse herää,
kuoronsa suuren kiittämähän kerää,
ja huomenkoitto avoakkunastas
säteensä kirkkaat kaataa kasvoillesi,
sua siunaa, hohdon antaa hymyllesi
ja luomes laulain avaa aamun rastas!
KAIPAUS
On kaipausta täynnä sydämeni,
kun kesken hiljaisuuden yksikseni
ma mennehissä elän unelmoissa.
Juur' äsken hurman hetki oli, meni,
sa äsken luona, nyt jo poissa.
Se unta onko ollut kaunehinta,
ett' aaltos povellani armas rinta?
Vain hiljaisuutta vastaan sykkii sydämein,
on muistoin lämpimyys mun ainoo autuutein. —
KEITAANI
Niin monen hetken murhe mennyt on,
ja suli sunnuntaihin viikon vaivat.
Keskeltä kuuman tuskain aavikon
taas lähtehensä löysi erälaivat.
Sa kussa kerallani kuljitkin,
ja laulujesi helmet helkkyi milloin,
nous aavikosta keidas ihanin,
sen palmuin alle uinahtaa sain illoin.
IN MEMORIAM
SÄESEPPELE EINO LEINOLLE
Seppo suuri sanallinen,
vaikka mies jo manallinen,
täällä vielä henkes häilyy,
kanteleesi soi ja säilyy.
Arkkus uppoo helmaan maasi,
kumpu kaikuu laulantaasi.
Asuntoos sait seinähirren:
synnyinmaasi kylmän kirren,
salpapuuksi hautavirren.
SUON LAULU
Toivo Kuulan muistolle.
Kuulitko ääniä kummia tuolta
kaukaa, suurelta rahkasuolta,
missä on väkevät pursujen lemut,
varjossa kuusten villit kemut?
Pauhaa korpi ja kalliot kajaa,
menninkäiset mäyrällä ajaa.
Yölintu huutaa, haltijat hiipii,
tohisee tuuli, lehtiä riipii...
Helskävät yöllisten henkien niidet,
virvojen juhlaa viettävät hiidet
kaukana, suurella korpisuolla.
Sen, ken katsoo, pakko on kuolla!
HELGE LINDBERG GRANIITISSA
Kalliolla tässä kerta
istuin, leikin Boddhisatvaa,
kuulin messuavaa merta,
humisevaa honganlatvaa.
Lauloi lokit päällä pääni,
paistoi päivä elämääni.
Meren, kallion ja taivaan
kolmisointu itse olin,
otin osaa onneen, vaivaan
maan, sen kamarata polin.
Kyti tähdet päällä pääni,
suusta haastoi Herran ääni!
Äkin sammui suuri haave,
riutui lieska rinnan nuoren:
olen kylmä kiviaave,
ihmissatu alla vuoren!
Olen itse olematon,
laulu meren lakkaamaton!

AVARUUDEN PORTILLA
I
Alussa aikaa ollut ei, ei paikkaakaan,
ei maailmoita, auringoita taivaan,
ei yötä, päivää, kumpaakaan.
Vain vihan-lemmen tuli kyti sydämenä kaaoksen;
se lieskaan leimahti ja syntyi valkeus,
ja kaaoksesta kirpos maailmoita
ja tähtiä ja auringoita!
Ne vihan tuli työnsi.
Mutt' kaipuu, kiintymys
ne sitoi alkujuureen,
ikuiseen keskusvoimaan suureen,
mi valon armon niille myönsi.
Ikuinen rakkaus ja viha —
ne kaksi voimaa jäivät kaikkiin tähtiin
ja ikuisesti vastatusten nähtiin.
II
On mittaamaton taivahitten työ.
Käy tähtilaumat avaruutta matain,
on kulku raskas ikuisuuden ratain,
ei pysy päivä, tummuu, tulee yö,
ja ahnahasti aikaa aika syö.
Sen voima sammumatta säilyy, riittää:
vuostuhat perillisen siittää,
min lähtöhetki jälleen lyö.
Vaan alla vaivan, ikeen yhteisen
ei taukoo toivo suuren kosmoksen.
III
Näin kulku jatkuu ajast' aikahan
ja vaihtuu ehdot elon, kuoleman,
vain lähemmäksi päivää kosmoksen
vie kauhut kaaoksen.
Tee kiertos korkea ja kirkas halki taivaan,
on osas jälleen käydä kiirastulen vaivaan!
Niin takaa satalukkoporttien
sa tavoittanet kerran kosmoksen.
Ei turhaa ollut kausi tuskanpainees:
voi kitehinä kimmeltää viel' ainees!
IV
Minnekä kiitävät
taivahan tähtien joukot?
— Tyhjyyttä, tyhjyyttä pakoon!
Tiedä ei ainut, minne on matka.
Käsky vain kuuluu: tietäsi jatka
tyhjyyttä, tyhjyyttä pakoon —
sittenkin tyhjyyttä kohti!
Tyhjyyden tyhjyys tähtiä johti,
ihmisen kaipuuta tähtiä kohti.

Sun silmäs taivahille turhaan tähyää,
päämäärä kaiken kätketyksi jää.
Tyhjyyden ijankaikkisen sa näet vain
takana tähtein tuikkivain.
Ja virvaa tähtein vilkuntakin lie,
tais ammoin tauota jo niiden tie.
Vuosmiljoonia valo vielä vilkkuu,
elosta ollehesta muistuttaa
ja paetessaan ilkkuu
kotinsa kylmää kuolemaa.
Kun sammuu kerran kaikki valo,
pois kynttilänsä polttaa taivaan talo,
lie vielä jossain avaruutta,
mi elää tähtiaikaa uutta
ja juhlii valon ikuisuutta!
KAKSOISTÄHDET
Sylissään maata kantoi avaruus,
ja siellä, täällä loisti tyyni tähti.
Välähti taivahalla tähti uus
ja kiertotielleen avaruuteen lähti.
Hymyivät hiljaa ääret avaruuden,
kun tähdet joukkohonsa saivat uuden.
On taival pitkä taivaan vaeltajain,
sen tiesivät jo tähtein vanhimmat:
he Kaikkeuden merta matkaavat,
välillä Ikuisuuden äärten, rajain.
Etäällä toisistansa tähdet harhaa,
mik' Idän, mikä Lännen tähtitarhaa,
toiselleen mikä tuskin häämöittää,
mik' ijät kaiket vierahaksi jää.
Rataansa rajatonta vaeltamaan
käy tähti uusi, vastasyntynyt.
Sen vuoro onhan alkaa vasta nyt
ja Kaikkeuden kulkuun käydä samaan.
Sen täytyy jaksaa aikain loppuun hamaan
ja kulkuhunsa olla kypsynyt.
Kun kyllin on se kerran välkkynyt,
yö suuri saapuu hehkun sammuttamaan.
Mutt' tähden vastasyntynehen rataan,
sen eläessä nuorta unelmataan,
on käynyt kerran toisen tähden tie.
Niin outo voima radat yhteen vie.
Välähtää kirkkahammin kumpainenkin —
Voi tähti olla sydän ihmisenkin!
YMPÄRI AURINGON
Ah, armas, ympäri auringon
niin kaunista kaksin kiitää on;
yhä tähtien tarhoja kimmeltää,
ja taivaiset taipalet taakse jää!
Yli tyhjyyden kuilujen huimaavain
me kiidämme korkeaa tietämme vain
läpi yön, läpi tummien taivahien,
suursaatossa tähtien tuhansien.
Lie pitkäkin vielä eessämme tie:
meitä kaipuun väkevät siivet vie
saman auringon ympäri ainiaan,
päämäärään aavistamattomaan,
pois talvista keväihin kuulaisiin,
ja keväistä kesihin kukkiviin —
Niin autuas ympäri auringon
sinun kanssasi, armas, kiitää on!
KANGASTUS
Me minne soudammekaan näin,
oi ystäväin? —
Sa älä kysy lain,
nyt soutakaamme vain,
mun armahain!
Tää onnen venhe on,
tää onnen on ja auringon
ja kuun ja tähtien!
Sen määrä kaukainen
ja ikuinen
kuin auringon
ja kuun ja tähtien.
Äl' aavaa säiky, armahin,
jo valot unten kaupungin
tuoll' eessä vilkuttaa,
sen onni odottaa.
Vie meitä keinu unten veen,
min lainehista laulut teen,
sua niillä tuudittain.
Kun lauluani kuuntelet,
mun kerasoutajain,
sa matkaa pitkää pelkää et,
et utu-ulappaa!
Jo, katso, ääriviivat saa
uus, outo unten maa:
näät tornit tuolla valkoiset
ja tornin tutkaimet...
Jo saapunemme valkamaan,
jo liemme liki rantaa —
Ei palaa pursi milloinkaan,
mi meitä kahta kantaa...
MORSIAN YÖ
Morsian Yö, oma ystävä armahin, kallehin, ainut,
saavuit luokseni taas, taivahan myötäsi toit.
Huomenen maan sinä aavistusta jo kanssasi kannat,
huomenen tuoksuja tuot, kastetta virvoittavaa.
Suortuvas sorjat kaulallein olet kietonut taasen,
suortuvas sorjat nuo, tummina hulmuavat.
Niinkuni kallein viini on huultesi viileä malja,
huultesi armahien, joilta ma unhoa juon.
Silmies kätköissä tähtiä taivahan kirkkaita kiiluu,
tähtiä taivahan, ah, sammuen, syttyen taas!
Ruskossa ehtoon hiljaa hiipien luokseni löysit,
koitossa huomenen taas luotani lähtevä oot.
Kaikkeni tuot sinä, oot sinä, kaikkeni viet sinä taasen,
kunnekka saapuvi yö luotani lähtemätön.
Helmahas tummaan saan minä rauhaan raueta silloin,
helmahan ainoan Sun, morsian Yö, Iki-Yö!
YÖN VALTA
Aamumme autuus
hetkessä haihtuu,
päivämme parhain
illaksi vaihtuu.
Yö ikiväkevä,
yö salanäkevä
silmämme sulkee,
aamuhun avaa;
helmasta sen suku
saapuva havaa.
Suuri ja mahtava
herra on yö,
tähtiä taivaan
vaanii ja syö...
Aurinko jaksanut
valvoa ei,
siksi sen linnaansa
valtias vei.
Käskynsä ankaran
antoi vain:
"Ikuisen työsi
ma määrätä sain!
Lapsia, kukkia
kuolevan maan
käydä sa saat nyt
kasvattamaan.
Sen olen vasta ma
vaativa sulta —
Itse en kaipaa
rintasi tulta".
IKUISEN KAIPUUN VIRTA
Lienee aamu ollut, ilta,
kun ma läksin tunturilta.
Korpi syntymäni näki,
kehtolaulun kukkui käki.
Jossain hongan juurten alla
ryömin maassa, matalalla.
Muistin — merestä ma nousin,
taivaan selkiä jo sousin.
Näin ma näyt pilviratain,
siinnot kaukosaarten satain.
Kotihini suureen halaan,
sinne kaipaan, jälleen palaan.
Anna, taivas, voimaa pisar,
anna veli, anna sisar!
Rinnan keinuimme jo kerta,
ollessamme osa merta.
Sama meillä synty, veri,
äitimme on valtameri!
Yhtykäämme, sisarukset,
murtakaamme vuoren ukset!
Louhet kussa kammitsoivat,
siellä kohta kosket soivat!
Voitan Turjan myrskytuulet;
pauhuni kai, korpi, kuulet!
Olen nyt jo jättiläinen,
kymmen-, satatuhatpäinen!
Tahdon mereen kiirehesti —
surma sen, ken mua esti!
Helmassas, oi äiti, vasta
viihdyn, lakkaan riehumasta.
PYRAMIIDI
Erämaa nukkuu,
aavikon hiekkaan keitahat hukkuu —
Suru sfinksin on suuri, kun hiekkahan vaipuu,
senkin ois taivaille kaipuu.
Pyramiidi pystyssä valvoo,
tulia ylhiä palvoo,
taivahat täyteen ratoja piirtää,
tähdestä tähteen kärkensä siirtää.
Sfinksin katse on tuskaa:
pyramiidi sen jättänyt on
häviön uhkaan aavikkohon.
Sfinksi vain kääpiö on,
pyramiidi voittamaton!
Samumin hiekkainen hyöky erämaan ääriltä ryntää,
kohtalon uurtoja sfinksin kasvoille kyntää,
hymyn kylmän jo hiekaksi haurahaks' huuhtoi...
Sfinksi vapisee vaipuessaan
ikikohtalon voimien valtaan,
maan tuntee pettävän altaan.
Pyramiidin katse on muuttumaton
ajalla tähtien, kuutamon
ja päivien paahtavain.
Vuostuhanten tomuja vain
sade yltä sen huuhtoo pois,
se että selkeemmin seurata vois,
kuinka kuviot taivahan ryhmittyy,
ja missä on tuskien syy.
Sfinksi hukkuvi hiekkahan maan;
pyramiidi on pystyssä vaan,
pyramiidi jää hallitsemaan.
AALLON KUOLEMA
Ma luulen, viime lainettaan
ei meri nähne milloinkaan.
Vain unessaan on aalto veen,
sen kun näät rantaan rauenneen.
Sylissä tuulen syntyy taas,
sen vaikka toinen rantaan kaas.

Kun tuulet kerran taukoaa,
